Auction timing and venue The auction will take place at a hotel in Kolkata on December 19, with proceedings expected to start from 2.30 pm. The proceedings can be watched on the Star Sports Network and on Hotstar. Auctions for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick-start, on December 19, with franchises expected to be restrained in their spending and eyes on key cricketers from West Indies and Australia. As many as 332 cricketers (186 Indian, 146 overseas players) will go under the hammer at an auction at a hotel in Kolkata, West Bengal. It will not be a big auction this time around with only 73 slots to be filled by the eight franchises. Remember, only 29 of them can be foreign buys.
