Census of Crocodiles residing in Vishwamitri River


The Forest department and NGO volunteers will conduct census of crocodiles residing in Vishwamitri River and various ponds in and around the city on Saturday. The Forest department conducted its last official crocodile census in 2015. The census teams will visit the 17 cm stretch of Vishwamitri River begining from Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway to Talsat village in Makarpura. Count will also be done in ponds including Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Manjalpur, Kalali, Dena, Talsat, Chhani, Dumaad, Vemali, Harni Sama, Vasna, Bhayali and Tandalja. As per forest department, a large number of crocodiles in Vishwamitri River live in the stretch between Kala Ghoda and Central Jail.
