Sensex hit record closing high of 40,268; Nifty at lifetime peak of 12,089

The benchmark BSE Sensex jumped over 550 points to end at a fresh closing high of 40,268 on Monday while NSE Nifty jumped 166 points to close at the lifetime high of 12,089.
